Bad News Gertner 03-28-2018 08:50 PM

Watching ECW Living Dangerously 1999. Sid is BY FAR the most over guy there.

Jordan 03-28-2018 09:14 PM

Sid came off really cool in ECW.

He was just ripping off 911's gimmick there.

Bad News Gertner 03-28-2018 09:15 PM

And doing it 10x better

Jordan 03-28-2018 09:33 PM

I really don't like Mauro. He was unbearable on this weeks NXT.

Fignuts 03-28-2018 09:34 PM

Thought Josh Barnett was really good at strong style evolved.

Jordan 03-28-2018 10:04 PM

I did too.

Is it really that funny, though? Or even surprising?

Chuckleworthy, but kinda makes me sad, as there was a point in time where THIS fucking guy would have been pretty over as a manager-type-character after the whole Bryan/Kane thing and been able to help someone down the card get elevated (like Axel). However, if WWE did keep him around, they likely would have just overused him with Team Hell No! and ruined the entire thing. Still, it is sometimes fun to imagine what could have been.

He is very knowledgable but he's very "flat" and J.R. does not pair well with him.

Fignuts 03-29-2018 12:59 AM

I think he and Don Callis would do well together. Kevin Kelly gets on my nerves at times, but Callis is mostly enjoyable.

Emperor Smeat 03-29-2018 01:58 AM

The Callis-Kelly pairing has been really good for NJPW considering some of the other pairings NJPW tried and them continually improving as a team.

Ross was a lot better during this year's US show than last year but think at this point, he'd be better off as just a color commentator or maybe as a third guy for live events. NJPW's style is a bit too hectic for him and it showed badly in the past and at times with this year's US show.

I do find it kind of weird that Ross struggles since he was awesome calling Dunne vs Bate II. But I guess he only had to call the one match that night, and at his age it'd be harder to keep up throughout at 4 hour show.

Big Vic 03-29-2018 07:38 AM

Last time Bo and Axel won a match was the preshow of SummerSlam.

Jordan 03-29-2018 07:50 AM

JR is too old to evolve, the names and faces are too hard for him.

Monroe is a fairly normal name

Anybody Thrilla 03-29-2018 02:26 PM

There's nothing wrong with Monroe, you numbskull. Probably named after Marilyn.

Anybody Thrilla 03-29-2018 02:29 PM

Edge and Christian's most recent podcast has an "anatomy of a match" with Bret Hart and Steve Austin where they essentially discuss their Wrestlemania 13 match spot for spot with concepts and intent of every step. I'm about to listen, so I can't vouch just yet, but I'm willing to bet it's pretty cool.

As a surname possibly, not heard it as a first name before

I normally find it very hard to criticise NXT but the opening this week had me

They really should have done the Gargano-Ciampa announcement in front of the live crowd (unless they recorded it later because they weren’t sure if Ciampa was cleared).

And then the first words from the broadcast team were “MAMA MIA!!”

Cool King 03-29-2018 04:10 PM

I'm sure every single name has a junkie associated to it somewhere in the world.

Quite possibly but not as high profile as she was. Total waste :(

Emperor Smeat 03-29-2018 06:36 PM

Rumor going around the net hints the state of Louisiana is going to bump their sales tax during Wrestlemania week from the usual 5% to 10% and only wrestling promotions being targeted.

It would only affect wrestling merch sold during the week but its high enough that some wrestlers are already being told to not bother bring merch to sell during the week.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-29-2018 07:00 PM

Clothes are taxed in LA?

I think it's really sad people find shit like that genuinely funny. Like, go watch some British comedy or something.

From reading the taping spoilers this was definitely recorded later.

Wrestling's fake though, so why would you care?

Anybody Thrilla 03-30-2018 04:42 AM

I like things to make sense, sure. Sometimes, as an optimist, I have to convince myself how something COULD make sense, whether that's the intention or not. That particular move makes even that difficult. Regardless, I'm definitely enjoying myself overall.
