"Brock has been the worst universal champion of all time"

Worse than Finn and Goldberg?

Droford 08-14-2018 11:18 AM

Kevin Owens needed to jump on the "I'm the greatest Universal Champion of all time"

Big Vic 08-14-2018 12:53 PM

During Reigns entrance:

"SummerSlam where the WWE Universe boo who they normally cheer and cheer who they normally boo, but it's all in good fun"

Here's a video of pre-WWF Elizabeth hosting ICW which was the promotion of Macho Man's dad.

Mr. Nerfect 08-14-2018 07:56 PM

They seem to be really teasing Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle. It might be a fickle attempt to transfer Angle's love onto Roman Reigns, but do you think they really are planning the match? Or do you think they do something like Brock Lesnar (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Bobby Lashley (w/ Kurt Angle)? Or some other surrogate for Angle?

Emperor Smeat 08-14-2018 11:46 PM

Seems its possible Renee Young could be making more appearances for RAW's commentary within the near future

Supposedly the reason for Coachman's absence this week wasn't due to prior commitments with the Gold Network and instead he was doing some prep work related to the XFL's revival.

WrestleMania 26 is the earliest WrestleMania where all of the participants are still alive. Fuck.

Oh man, fingers crossed on this. Coach to XFL would be great for both companies.

slik 08-15-2018 08:50 AM

I remember when Jonathan Coachman was the local sports anchor in the city I grew up in for the ABC affiliate and then he left to go work for WWE and it was very kanefusing to me because he wasn't very good as the sports anchor.

He was always emotionless and unenthusiastic, which is pretty much the same now.

Snuka maybe. Piper was only 54 when he wrestled at WM25 and he still died pretty young.

Evil Vito 08-15-2018 09:28 AM

Piper at WM25 was the same age Ric Flair was when he was facing Triple H for the title in 2003, and he still had several more years of a full time schedule left after that.

Flair is fucking incredible.

slik 08-15-2018 11:50 AM

Has any tag team called up from NXT the last several years not been a colossal failure on the main roster?

I can't think of a single one that has succeeded since The Wyatt Family/Shield.

Anybody Thrilla 08-15-2018 06:18 PM

The Canadian Stampede main event is so good.

I'd argue against the Wyatts being included mainly because every time they push Rowan and Harper as a team, it either never lasts and/or are not handled well.

Like their current run as a team has been the most successful in terms of gold but creatively, they have been pretty bland or boring considering the other options available for Smackdown.

All of it goes back to the view that Vince hates tag wrestling and treats it mostly as an afterthought instead of something that could help improve show quality.

Holy fucking hot shit, Tyler Bate v. Roderick Strong in this week's NXT main event goes dumb hard. Check it the fuck out.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 03:48 AM

Pod of Awesomeness from a couple episodes ago has me going back to Harper v. Ziggler in the IC title ladder match. I remember loving the shit out of it when I first saw it.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 03:50 AM

TLC 2014 opener, if anyone was wondering.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 03:53 AM

Luke Harper is so very, VERY good.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 03:55 AM

Harper mentioned on the podcast that he almost killed Ziggler three times. I'm looking for those spots.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 03:55 AM

Seems like almost every single spot.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 03:56 AM

Oh my fuck. Go back and enjoy this if you have time.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 03:57 AM

Easier to do knowing that no one actually died. They both left with staples though.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 03:59 AM

Performances like this justify Ziggler's multiple pushes.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2018 04:08 AM

That was seriously unreal. Wrestling is the best.

Luke Harper is spectacularly underutilized.

And now that he's pushing 40, he's unlikely to get the type of push he should've gotten ages ago.

I still weep at his derailed push during the Orton/Wyatt feud. Fans were getting behind him and he was starting to feel like he could legit break through into the main events........

But then he was just taken off TV entirely, and Jinder Mahal was pushed to the moon instead.

Big Vic 08-16-2018 11:01 AM

Orton vs Harper vs Wyatt could have been booked so much better.

I feel like that about a lot of talented guys when I see their age. Just thinking what could have been if they existed in another era and how it's now too late to fix it even if things were to suddenly get really good again. When it's all said and done, pretty much everyone in this era is just gonna blend in with everyone else. Same booking, same characters, same basic paint-by-numbers personality, same pre-written, generic, emotionless promos across the board. Just wasted careers all over the place.

Fandango is 37, FFS. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN.

Evil Vito 08-16-2018 11:41 AM

Fandango being 37 feels somewhat shocking - that means he was already 30 when he was added to the main roster. But then again, he was in developmental for ages so it kinda makes sense.

Shit, same situation with Wade Barrett who just turned 38. He turned 30 early on in the Nexus angle.
