The first Raw after they changed to WWE, they had a Hardcore 15 Minute scramble match so Lillian Garcia could say "and new WWE Hardcore champion..." over and over again to beat it in our heads.

It was a small venue and the place was packed... Not an empty seat in the house.

The wrestlers kept going into the crowd and making the people move so they could throw each other into their chairs.

Wasn't only the ref holding the bleachers. Like 5 fans came over to help so they didn't die.

Ironically, this is a microcosm of WWE's current booking philosophy. Everything they did could have paid off in a big way... but an event that had zero to do with this angle caused Vince to overlook that. So scared of losing "that moment" overshadowed, he pissed another one away without any thought to implications of both storyline and career trajectory.

Nobody ever feels like they "belong" because they are never built to belong. And if this whole Goldberg/Kofi thing comes to pass, they're basically repeating history... just without so many racial overtures, but a more egrigious error: once again confirming to your own audience that your current crop of "superstars" are not nearly as good as any fossil you dig up from yesteryear. I mean, can you imagine what kind of rub it would be (provided Bill can still go) if Kofi knocks him off and he keeps being the man that "does the impossible"? From all those Royal Rumble saves to constantly beating guys in championship matches he's "not supposed to"... that's how you build stock in the future.

Instead, what is most likely to happen they are phoning in: short-term gains to be had from nostalgia and fucking Kingston back to midcard hell for no good goddamn reason, and they will still scratch their heads as to why viewers are vacating and talent wants to go elsewhere.
