Ashley Cole certain penalty.

Otherwise no complaints felt slightly hard done by but meh.

toxic rooster 12-29-2004 07:21 PM

Yeah, we got lucky that the ref and linesmen were both blind

Rob 12-29-2004 10:16 PM

The ref said he saw it though. What a fucking moron. He should be suspended for that. If you don't see something then fine but to see a blatant penalty and not give it is just wrong.

Babyaro has gone.

How was Cole's handball a penalty, Bellamy clearly pushed him, I'd be pissed off if Wayney Bridge or any other of our players got a penalty given against us for that.

Rob 12-30-2004 04:38 PM

It was a hand ball because he lifted his arms above his head and made contact with the ball.

And Boumsong's agent has said that he expects a deal to be wrapped up soon, just the matter of Boumsong and Rangers negotiating the cut of the transfer fee that he gets, they want it reduced to 5% and he wants 10%. The clause in his contract is actually 15% so I think they'd be better off just letting it be.

Things are certainly looking up now

United should have never admitted Rooney was wrong even though he was. We would have had time to appeal any charge which wouldn't have been anymore than a 3 game ban and in that time, Rooney could play and Saha would probably be back in time for when Rooney would actually be suspended.

That fat cunt of a Bolton manager has lost his mind saying Ben Haim didn't nothing wrong. Play acting is breaking rules dickhead. Stop moaning about Rooney and video replays.

He also mentioned how the FA have every right to make charges after reviewing games later. Yes they do. They also have the right to take away red cards for the likes of Lee Hendrie who got sent off for nothing the other week but they didn't. Do both or don't bother.

packt up 12-31-2004 01:23 PM

FA got both things right I reckon.

I heard United didn't appeal so that wasn't a chance of him missing the game with Arsenal but I dunno.

The Mask 12-31-2004 01:40 PM

nah, we did the right thing, he misses 3 smallish games, and comes back against the scouse. it's all good.

Ogen 12-31-2004 01:42 PM

Spain coach Luis Aragones has dug himself deeper into a hole over his remark about Thierry Henry by now referring to Jose Antonio Reyes as “a gypsy”.

Aragones faces disciplinary action from the Spanish FA, who have launched an investigation into the coach telling Reyes that he was better than “that black ****” Henry.

Now, in an interview with Madrid newspaper El Mundo, Aragones tried to defend himself but succeeded only in making things worse.

Aragones said: “Reyes is ethnically a gypsy, I have got a lot of gypsy and black friends, I consider myself a citizen of the world, I don’t care about their skin colour.

“All I did was to motivate the gypsy by telling him he was better than the black.

“I feel I have been the victim of a lynching. All I did was try to motivate Reyes comparing him with Henry and making him see that he was better.

“I didn’t use the term ‘black’ with any racist meaning.

“I’m not going to forget what’s happened. A section of the press in this country

Spain] has lynched me and I will not forget that my family have had a very bad time as a consequence of this.”

Arsenal are understood to be unhappy at Aragones’ latest remark but will not be taking any formal action. <hr>

Aragones is fucking brilliant

Wengerland 01-01-2005 10:51 AM

Mike Riley is a fucking dick, 1 clear penalty and one maybe debatable one but even that wasn't a free kick to Chelsea, which he gave :|

Chelsea won 1-0 btw, draw would've been fair and it's a shame Alonso had to go off as Liverpool were playing well and Nunez is nowhere near as good a player.

yianni 01-03-2005 08:24 AM

Isn't that something to do with some thing United have where they only offer 1 year contracts to players over 30? Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere else in this thread, it's just I heard about that the other day.

That's their story now but Peter Schmeichel, Roy Keane and Teddy Sheringham all signed longer than 1 year deals when they hit 30. I'd give him 2 year deal instantly. I'd give him 3 if he wanted it.

El Capitano Gatisto 01-03-2005 03:30 PM

He'd just go back to being crap.

Also, I think that policy is a recent thing.

Ogen 01-03-2005 05:11 PM

Savage has handed in a transfer request at Brum wants to move closer to his family and Villa missed out on Beattie which was to be expected what I'm fuming about is that O Leary has said theres no plan B it was him or noone we need a feckking striker this month. I'd love to see us tempt Spurs with 4 million for Keane think him and Angel would work well togethere.

Wengerland 01-03-2005 07:23 PM

Fucking Brom, if Horsefield could square a ball and pick out Earnshaw I would have won only 8 quid, but it's still better then winning nothing.

El Capitano Gatisto 01-03-2005 10:21 PM

If Shay Given wasn't such a chief, you mean.

Earnshaw looks like a real, proper dwarf.

Dazz 01-03-2005 10:24 PM

I am unaware of what a cheif is, round here it's a rude boy word for 'mate'.

Earnshaw's face reminds me of something but I'm not sure what it is, and Horsefield was never going to beat given from the angle he was at, I don't know what he was thinking, Earnshaw would have buried it, probably.

On other news, if Shay Given was such a 'chief' then how come we have scored nine passed him in the past two seasons at Stamford Bridge

El Capitano Gatisto 01-03-2005 10:42 PM

It would have been 20 without Given. Newcastle are shit. Given should be at Barcelona or somewhere great like that.

Dazz 01-03-2005 10:49 PM

He has gotta go in the transfer window or the end of the season, he is being robbed of Champions League football.

El Capitano Gatisto 01-03-2005 11:05 PM

He won't. Irish players are too loyal. Roy Keane said it, and he was spot on: a few players in the Irish team could have been playing club football for big teams if they'd shown more ambition and a will to win.

Dazz 01-03-2005 11:09 PM

I know this isn't exactly to do with loyalty, but Roy Keane isn't a man of his word, wasn't it Souness or someone he shook hands with on a deal when leaving Notts Forest, only to stitch him up and join ManYoo.

Robbie Keane moved from club to club, but I suppose that's a one off.

El Capitano Gatisto 01-03-2005 11:21 PM

It was Dalgish. Dalglish thought he had agreed to move to Blackburn, but Manchester United snuck in and nabbed him. Then again, when Keane had the chance to move on a Bosman to Real Madrid or Juventus, he decided to stay where he was.

Poor Robbie. He got fucked around more than anything else. I bet Wolves fans still love him. Inter signed him and sacked Lippi a couple of months later, then the Turk they brought in didn't fancy him.

He went to Leeds, and everyone knows the story there.

Dazz 01-03-2005 11:29 PM

Fair enough, I'll let Robbie Keane off. And since joining United I don't think anyone can question Roy Keane's loyalty, asking for £50,000 a week when those kind of wages were hugely unheard of in England is the closest thing he's done to being disloyal I suppose.

LOL

Astley316 01-05-2005 09:09 AM

Not the first time this has happened though

I remember when bolton came up, and went down the second time, On our first game at the Reebok, Nathan Blake scored a clear goal against everton, but no one spotted we had scored, we ended up getting relgated that season on goal difference , if the goal had stood, Everton would have gone down,

Cactus Sid 01-05-2005 09:27 AM

What I can't understand is how the linesman made 2 mistakes in that incident.

The fact the ball went over the line by a yard in the first place is a disgrace that it was missed, but there is another important point here.

Carroll, no matter how you look at it, clearly pushed the ball back, and seemingly in the eyes of the linesman it was "away from the line". Yet, if you look, as he pushes it back, the ball lands more or less on the goal line, how the hell did the linesman not realise that if the ball was bouncing on the goal line AFTER the keeper had pushed it forward, that the ball had not crossed the line.

He had 2 chances to give a clear goal....and failed. What more can be said.

Wengerland 01-05-2005 09:48 AM

Yeah, shocking mess up.

To be fair to the linesman he's doing all he can to get there because he was up with play and can't really expect a 50 yard shot to come in, let alone get in a good position to see whether it had crossed the line by the time it drops. He shouldn't really just assume it crossed the line without getting a good view.

Another great goal from SWP though, i'd have him in the England side ahead of Beckham easily now.

Cactus Sid 01-05-2005 12:26 PM

Also, its a good signing considering he cost us nothing

Wengerland 01-05-2005 12:59 PM

Yeah, and he obviously knows Benitez well.

Shame about Xabi Alonso being out for 3 months now though :$

Cactus Sid 01-05-2005 02:29 PM

It could be a blessing if he moves for another top midfielder, someone like Aimar or Rosicky, who've been linked with us in the past, would more than make up for his absence.

Rob 01-05-2005 03:16 PM

Love how people are getting on Man U's case llike it's our fault the ref is a moron. We all know it crossed the line but it's hardly our fault if a goal isn't given. Ferguson admitted he was shocked it wasn't given. From what they just showed on Sky, the ref was at the half way line so he had no chance but the linesman was on the 18 yard line and it was debatable. It looks like Carroll blocked his view and a case of you can't give what you don't see. Still an awful decision though.

On another note, if we don't beat Arsenal and Chelsea, it's all over for us.

Dazz 01-05-2005 08:42 PM

Yeah like what Rob said, (I cannot believe I am agreeing with something he said here) The lino tried to get in as good position as he could, as the MOTD replays show, he wasn't concentrating too much on Carroll, more where he was running, as he obviously didn't expect Carroll to fuck up. It would have been worse (to United fans anyway) if the goal had stood but it wasn't a goal. I have no complaints over the decision.

Cactus Sid 01-06-2005 10:11 AM

I'd have no complaints if the ball wasn't so blatantly over the line

I don't think United will beat Liverpool, though.

Rob 01-06-2005 04:05 PM

It's too early for me to conceed really. After seeing it pulled back before, you have to consider it can happen realistically. End of February, I'll probably be looking forward to the cup finals :D

Ogen 01-07-2005 06:53 AM

So Kanoute being linked with Barca surely I'm not the only one who thinks he'd be ell out of his depth playing for them hes good but hes not that good.

Wengerland 01-07-2005 08:42 AM

Yeah i'd rather not see Kanoute at Barça, but he'll just be backup for Eto'o so it's not too bad.

Norwich have had a bid for Dean Ashton accepted. Bastards, they were meant to be taking Scowcroft from us, and he can do better than them. He's scored more than their whole team put together this season in the league anyway.

Ogen 01-07-2005 09:09 AM

I was hoping we'd stick in a bid for Ashton he looks like he could be good but O Leary doesn't want anyone unproven after all of Villas terrible signings in the past. How much was the Ashton bid do you know?
