Oh I don't dispute that at all. However, I still think Given isn't as good as people think.

I thought Souness could be the man to motivate the Newcastle team but he isn't. Bellemy and Dyer are crybaby bitches. Laurent Robert isn't much better. By the time they are gone, people will be calling for Souness to leave anyway.

I've never liked that girlie looking cunt. He runs his mouth to anyone just because he is mates with Joe Calzaghe. Calzaghe couldn't do anything to anyone because of his hands being classed as weapons by law so I'd love to see him turn away while 17 people kicked fuck out of Craigie.

I'd love to have the guy at Liverpool, for a start he's a Liverpool fan which means he might actually have a bit of passion, not to mention the fact we are desperately in need of a Right Winger.

Shame he went to Birmingham

Also, I would rate Shay Given in the top 3 keepers in the league, behind Cech and probably on a par with Cudicini.

come on the Chelsea boys, best two keepers in the league, Shay given is nowt compared to our 23 from Italy, or Petr Cech.

So sky finally realised what a complete twat rodney marsh really is. Anybody know these "comments" that he made which got him sacked?

Cactus Sid 01-25-2005 02:47 PM

"Marsh, appearing on phone-in programme You're On Sky Sports, joked that David Beckham had turned down a move to Newcastle after hearing of the trouble with the "Toon Army in Asia".

Cactus Sid 01-25-2005 02:47 PM

Actually, thats pretty funny.

Mr. Monday Morning 01-25-2005 02:47 PM

Aston Villa fans' chief Jonathan Fear believes Craig Bellamy ``is the kind of player we are missing'' amid speculation that the Midlands club may bid for the controversial Newcastle striker.

Bellamy's future at St James' Park appears to be hanging by a thread after his massive public fall-out with Magpies manager Graeme Souness, although he has not been put up for sale.

Villa are reported to be monitoring the situation and their manager David O'Leary has £6million to spend after failing to land James Beattie who opted instead to move from Southampton to Everton.

There have been no signals or comment coming out of Villa Park but Fear, the official spokesman for Villa Fans' Combined, has no doubt that Bellamy would enhance the current squad.

He told the Press Association: ``Everyone seems to be saying that we are not going to get any players in January but a nasty, snarling, aggressive type of player like Craig Bellamy is what Villa have been missing.

``Amongst the current players, we don't seem to have anyone who gets angry if things are not going well. The players are all very nice and too polite.

``Like against Manchester United at the weekend, we seem to stand back and admire quality opposition.

``Villa also lack pace with Darius Vassell out injured for so long and there is no doubt that Craig Bellamy would offer that kind of pace.

``Whether his arrival, if that were to happen, would be universal amongst supporters, I am not sure. I think it depends on which version of the stories coming out of Newcastle that you listen to.

``But we are desperate to get a new striker in and, before the current fall-out he has had, I thought that Craig Bellamy would be a good shout.''

LOL talk about a marriage made in hell, Bellamy and Lee Hendrie in the same team, holy shit chav alert

TV pundit Marsh sacked over tsunami joke
(Filed: 25/01/2005)

Rodney Marsh, the football pundit, has been sacked by broadcaster Sky Sports after making an "inexcusable" joke about the Asian tsunami disaster.

Marsh, appearing on phone-in programme You're On Sky Sports, is believed to have joked that David Beckham had turned down a move to Newcastle after hearing of the trouble with the "Toon Army in Asia".

The former Queens Park Rangers, Manchester City and Fulham striker was sacked after bosses reviewed his comments this morning.

A Sky Sports spokesman said: "During the live night-time phone-in, Rodney made comments that were offensive and inexcusable. An apology was made within the programme and Rodney's comments were edited and removed from later transmissions."

The frequently outspoken 60-year-old was quick to apologise today for his remarks.

He said: "I apologise unreservedly for any offence I caused by my thoughtless and inappropriate comment I made last night. My intention was to make a light-hearted football joke.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues and senior executives who have been brilliant to me and always supported me during my time at Sky. I am hugely disappointed in myself for letting them down."

LOL you could tell Howard was gonna fuck up on that free kick from the way Andy Gray was going on about it

El Capitano Gatisto 01-26-2005 06:26 PM

I don't really see what else Howard could have done. It was just a perfectly hit free kick, really. Those free kicks, swung in between defence and goalkeeper, are unstoppable when done properly. Sometimes they go wide, this one went in.

Decent game, with not much between the sides. Silvestre is a shit defender. He is a good footballer, but he is clearly not a natural defender, has no sense of awareness in his own penalty area and relies on his pace, strength and instinct rather than any footballing intelligence.

Petr Cech is incredible, though.

Dazz 01-26-2005 07:15 PM

I thought Silvestre was their best player, definitley in the first half. Cech has been great all season, he hardly did anything outstanding today.

On a Chesea forum I said it would be 2-1 with Lampard and Duff scoring, why the fuck didn't I put a bet on it, I'm such a twat.

Rob 01-26-2005 07:41 PM

I wouldn't say Howard was at fault. Defence let a ball bounce in their own box and that is just asking for trouble. I didn't think Chelsea were that good but Cech was pretty damn good. I thought we deserved the win but we didn't get it. No point crying over it now.

Dazz 01-26-2005 07:46 PM

If it's a penalty I'll admit it, if it's not I wont. You won't even admit when Brown deserves to be sent off but I won't bring that up again

Y2Ant 01-26-2005 10:28 PM

The game was pretty damn good from well not a neutral perspective, since I detest Man United with a passion, but the game was pretty even sided, I thought it was in when Silvestre I think headed that corner and Bridge cleared it off the line, Cech had no chance on that one, could have easily led to extra time.

The rule where the away goals only count after extra time is stupid, just like having two legs on only one round, they need to change that shit IMO

I think they've had that away goals thing for a while, back in 97 when City won it we had to get a score draw at Wimbledon in the semi's and managed it in the 90 minutes but had to play out extra time. Good times :'(

It was a decent game, Chelsea's defence was pretty tight though so apart from the goal and the header off the line i think Cech only had to make that save from Ronaldo. Cudicini will be back in for the final though, as long as he's fit.

Should be a decent final going on the game at Anfield between the sides, when Liverpool were very unlucky to lose, Chelsea dominated the other game though.

Wengerland 01-27-2005 05:55 AM

Bellamy latest is that he could be going to Pompey on loan with Newcastle getting first option on Yakubu in the summer.

Also, do you know if Burton O'Brien is any good, Rob? :-\

Keown looks like he'll be leaving to get some money in, Forest, Southampton and today Wolves and Pompey are said to be interested :$

Dazz 01-27-2005 07:18 AM

Y2Ant, if there was two legs in each round then there would be even more fixture congestion, and bigger teams would be more likely to showcase their younger players, and it's unfair to have the semi final at one of the teams pitches as they have an unfair advantage. I like the way they do it, even the away goals rule is good IMO. Shut up and let it be

Mr. Monday Morning 01-27-2005 08:25 AM

Celtic's on-loan striker Henri Camara could spend the rest of the season at Southampton.

Saints boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed he wants to borrow the Senegal international, who is on loan at Parkhead from Wolves for the season.

He told the Daily Record: "We have made an enquiry about Camara and we are trying to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

"I don't know how close to a deal but (chairman) Rupert Lowe has been in touch with Celtic."

Celtic paid Wolves £1.5million to borrow the player, who has contributed eight goals this season.

---------

WTF that is bullshit, how can Celtic loan out a player that they're loaning themselves :| To say nothing of Camara bitching about wanting to play for a bigger club than Celtic - don't think Southampton fit the bill somehow

Actually I hope they do sign him and he proves as useless as he was for us when we needed him to actually score instead of running around and being shit.

Rob 01-27-2005 08:50 AM

Definately agree with the away goal arguement. It should be over 90 mins. It's an unfair advantage if it's over 120mins.

I don't rate him that highly. Far better midfielders in the SPL than him. Mark Fotheringham (Dundee), Mark Kerr (Dundee Utd) and Chris Burke (Rangers) are three better players who you lot could probably get. O'Brian is a Scotland U21 who is about to be capped by South Africa so people are thinking he is better than he really is.

Anyway, your manager is shite. He can't see outside the bloody SPL.

If it stayed 1-1 at 90mins, you lot should have won on away goals. Instead, we would have another 30mins to get a goal. I don't see how that's fair to you.

Wengerland 01-27-2005 11:17 AM

Keown's had his contract terminated, with Pressman to follow as we've signed this apparantely crap keeper, Hirschfeld or something, as back up for Walker. Looks like Stuart Taylor won't be coming back :(

Levein isn't particularly shite, he's got us passing it around (first goal on saturday was a great example) and is signing younger players than Adams generally bought in, plus they're players who want to succeed in England, rather than the usual players who get bought in on big wages who don't see the need to try and perform for Leicester City because they've already had a great career.

You misunderstand me my son, I didn't say anything about having two legs in every round, I said we need to fix that shit, i.e. just have one leg in the semi final.

Plus being at home can't be that much of an advantage, if you win away at Old Trafford. Infact they should just do what they do in the FA cup and have it at a neutral ground, that works.

FA Cup 5th round draw:

Bolton v Derby or Fulham
West Bromwich Albion or Tottenham v Nottingham Forest
Everton v Manchester United
Charlton Athletic v Leicester City
Burnley v Blackburn
Southampton v Brentford or Hartlepool
Newcastle v Chelsea
Arsenal v West Ham or Sheffield United

Charlton should be a good test, going by our recent away form i think we could maybe surprise them, not the easily winnable or money spinning nothing to lose tie i was hoping for though.

Anelka to Fenerbache, Djemba-Djemba to Villa and Bellamy on loan to Celtic are probably the main moves so far, looks like Dawson and Reid will be leaving the Trees to go to Spurs for £8m though, no way are they worth that much.

Leicester are meant to be getting Stephen Hughes from Rangers (any info please Rob ;)) for £100,000, money freed up after Tricky Trev, Keown, Pressman and Matty Elliott, who's retirement means the end of the O'Neill era but best of luck to him, his goals to win us the Worthington Cup make him a legend.

Ogen 01-31-2005 06:32 PM

Spurs have got a allright deal on them two I think. Reid will have made up about 5 million of that and Dawson looks like he'll be great good signings by Spurs.

Gutted we've bought the Djemba twins. As if buying a shit player wasn't bad enough which maybe it might not have been had it been in another position given the size of our squad but its in the only position we've real cover in. We had McCann, Hendrie, Hitzelberger, Berson and Davies already and now we add the Djemba twins to it. Even though Hitz looks like hes off to Germany in the summer theres no need to sign him. All the best to the lad and I hope he proves me wrong but I don't think any Villa fans are happy about this one. Allthough hes making himself more liked by saying he turned down the blues for us.

Steal for 100k. Hughes is a good young player who never caught a break with Alex McLeish for some reason. Probably because he is obsessed with buying shit players. He'd walk into any other SPL team other than Celtic obviously. Personally, I'd have put in him the Rangers starting XI everyweek.

Barry Ferguson went back to Rangers (what a lack of ambition), Oliver Bernard to Southampton, Geremi refused to go back to Boro and Henri Camara was released by Celtic and Wolves sent him to Southampton. Mikel Arteta went to Everton. I'm interested to see how this turns out. I never saw what everyone in Scotland thought was so great with this lad.

His main problem was his lack of a physical presence which is pretty much required in Scottish football. He hasn't had the best of times with injuries as well. An alright player with the ball at his feet.

Dawson's not the player he was 2 years ago, glandular fever affected him quite badly. I'd say Wes Morgan and Lescott are better prospects.

Can't argue about Reid and it would depend where they play Huddlestone, good passer but he's not too great defensively.

They're developing a good, young squad though.

Game of the season fantastic it was best fun I've had watching a game all year. Think I was the only neutral in the pub.

Credit to Man U seemed like they deserved it. Fucking hate Ronaldo's little gawpy face though he deserves a punch.

Otherwise Newcastle are getting well fucked up these days - fucking Souness.

Keane should have called Liam Miller in to the tunnel and gave Vieira a kicking, then Cygan too for being terrible.

Watched Blackburn-Chelsea tonight. Don't know why, it was shite. Chelsea had basically one or two shitty half chances all night, created nothing really. Speculative shot from Robben, well struck, but Friedal should have kept it out easily.

Blackburn didn't create anything either, though. They had plenty of possession, and it looked like they might be able to do something, but their passing was shite and they lept lumping it up to Dickov, even though he's half the size of Terry. I thought Hughes would throw on Stead for the last 20-30 mins, since Chelsea were doing nothing going forward and Blackburn weren't getting enough men forward, but no.

Just a nothing game, apart from some wonderful fouls and a bit of fighting. Also, Robben bust his ankle.

Angel ffs whats happened to you . First goal in months then he goes and misses two penos and Fulham get a 90th minute equaliser

Yeah it was pretty piss poor, we didn't ever look like killing the game off. Dickov needs to realise that Terry would kick the fuck out of him, it was great when Pederson tried to head the ball out of Cech's hands so Maka just pushed him over, then Terry grabbed Dickov and had his forearm round his throat from behind him, Dickov is a little shit. Met him on holiday in like '98 when he played for Arsenal, didn't even recognise the Scottish wanker he is not a big name and never will be.

When Jarosik came on I thought Hughes would go more attacking, as we also brought on Kezman who seemed to be told to hold back and not attack much.

Robben's foot might only be bruised, it will be revealed later.

Can't argue about Reid and it would depend where they play Huddlestone, good passer but he's not too great defensively.

They're developing a good, young squad though.

Nah Lescott's not that good :shifty:

I'd imagine they'd put Dawson and King at the back with Huddlestone in the midfield...maybe have 5 at the back and Huddlestone, Brown and Carrick in the middle? Hot young English midfield right thurrrr

Just when you think you hear the end of "X Chelsea player is so tough", here it goes again.

Lampard and Terry both had oppotunities to act like the big shots they think they are but just like every other player who Dickov winds up, they didn't.

<font face=verdana size=3 color="#ff6600">whooooo TPWW not being gay so I can actually post now :'(

Didn't see the game yesterday but after reading Mourinho's comments it sounds like Blackburn played exactly the way they played against us. Nasty, cynical football. I hate them so much :'(</font>

I'd just like to know where this obsession with how hard footballers are came from. Everyone seems to act like it really matters.

Rob 02-03-2005 07:45 PM

I think I started it actually by mocking Kezman. He is still shite though.

Ogen 02-03-2005 08:52 PM

So Cech breaks the record for longest time without conceeding in the Premiership in his first season :D bloody rediculous :D

Dazz 02-03-2005 10:11 PM

He is great, people can say what they like about how much money we have spent, but when you save a penalty and other saves he has made, added to the afct that Cech's own record for longest time without concededing includes under 21 internationals, champions league and domestic games, was 1150 minutes in the Czech Republic, not fucking bad!
