Yeah coz it wasn't him that knocked you out of Europe last season. It also wasn't him that turned the game around againt you at Stamford Bridge this season. It's called a bad patch, he is class.

And I am OK.

packt up 03-20-2005 09:43 PM

Its called a one season wonder.

Nice to see you are ok though Dazz :)

Dazz 03-20-2005 09:48 PM

One season wonder my arse, he annhilated you and Liverpool last season, and has been the man this season, a few bad games is all it is. Wait till he shows who is boss in the Champions League and the last game of the season.

Also, rumour has it you get FIVE weeks off for Easter at Warwick uni, is this true

packt up 03-21-2005 07:14 AM

Come on Dazz tell it like it is - he was the man last season, then terrible this season WITH THE OCCASIONAL GOOD GAME. But in general rubbish. He's probably just low on confidence.

Your team got charged with disripute today along wit a few members of staff - i'm pretty bored of this story now.

And yeah 5 weeks WHAT ABOUT IT

Ogen 03-21-2005 11:30 AM

Dean Richards retired today after battling a brain tumour. Wasn't too bad a player a few years back and holds the record of most expensive uncapped British player as far as I know.

packt up 03-21-2005 11:32 AM

Of YOUR most expensive uncapped British player?? :wtf:

If you meant most expensive uncapped British player then I would have thought Kevin Davies would be top off the top of my head. :meh:

Shame about the tumour too :( he wasn't a bad player at all.

packt up 03-21-2005 11:35 AM

Oh and one more thing this comment from Benitez really pisses me off:

Baros was sent off after 77 minutes for a rash tackle on Alan Stubbs, but Benitez refused to criticise the Czech striker.

"Maybe Milan deserved a red card but it's easy to show a red card in that situation," he said

:wtf:...so he deserved but its easy to show a red card when its deserved. OK RAFA

Ogen 03-21-2005 11:37 AM

Fuck knows where the my came from :D and I dunno about Davies was only a fact I heard today when I heard he was retiring. Perhaps its all his transfers added togethere or something.

What? You have got this in reverse, he has the occasional bad game, he is powerful, can shrug off defenders, hold the ball up, has some skill and is a team player. Aside from that he is a great finisher, he has scored three braces this season, not that thats overly impressive, but he can't be bad if he does that. You clearly don't watch much of Chelsea if you can't see the importance and brilliance of Drogba.

packt up 03-21-2005 01:40 PM

The words "great finisher" just made all your other words meaningless to me Dazz.

Alan Shearer is a great finisher, RVN is a great finisher, I wouldn't even say Thierry Henry is a great finisher (good but not great, great player though) so how you can say Drogba is is beyond me.

Wengerland 03-21-2005 02:01 PM

Richards probably is the most expensive Brit who's not been capped, he cost Spurs £8m i think, Davies was £7.25m from Southampton to Blackburn.

Dazz 03-21-2005 02:08 PM

Packt Up, you clearly don't ever watch Didier Drogba play.

Ogen 03-21-2005 03:01 PM

Drogba is a hard working cunt and I rate him, however you can't say hes a great finisher. At least not great in the sense that Chelsea need.

Rob 03-21-2005 03:05 PM

I don't think he'll be at Chelsea next season as a starter. Possible bench warmer. Last season he looked the nuts but I'm glad we didn't sign him based on this season.

Still, he pisses on Kezman.

Doink 03-21-2005 04:27 PM

drogba looks good to me but then again i have to watch nemeth every week !

seriously though, id say lampard was a better finisher than him but drogba seems to have that knack of being in or around the goal at important times

Doink 03-21-2005 04:31 PM

o and its a shame about dean richards, i thought he was a good player on his day, not sure if he was more expensive than davies tho think MuzzE has the fee's right but was'nt James Beattie involved int the Davies transfer and does a player + cash deal count as being more as think Beattie was valued at about £1m in that transfer.

Teams Want Seeding

Pretty shitty idea in my opinion. "Helping big teams to get through" is pretty unfair in my opinion. Teams are complaining that big teams got drawn together but thats because some of these "big teams" couldn't even win their first group stages. Stop fucking around in the group stages and win your group if you want an easier team.

Cactus Sid 03-22-2005 02:43 PM

I agree

At the end of the day, a club like Manchester United are gonna have to beat one of the big boys if they want to win the competition, it doesn't matter if its in the last 16 or the semi finals, the team that wins the tournament, is the team that was best in the competition.

Ogen 03-22-2005 04:48 PM

If it happens it'll just further ruin Europe

toxic rooster 03-22-2005 07:36 PM

yianni 03-23-2005 03:54 AM

Who knows

Fucking better be true though

Apparently NZ is STILL whinging about Australia wanting to leave Oceania. I don't get it? Why would they give a shit? Australia leaving means that they are favorites to qualify for the Oceania spot for the Olympics, Youth World Cups etc (where Oceania gets a direct qualifying spot for). Oceania will still retain it's half-qualifying spot for the World Cup, and instead will now play off against the 4th best Asian opponent, so it's making life easier for them yet they're still whinging the dumb cunts! :nono:

Doink 03-25-2005 02:34 AM

carlo gash sorry nash has joined preston north end on a 3 & 1/2 year contract, last news from boro was he was out with a groin tear, mind you he was crap, hes the only keeper i know who can throw a ball further than he can kick it.

its now time we get some serious copotition in for schwartzer as he has gone too long unclanged. he apparently had a stipulation in last contract that said if he's fit he plays! apparently this was reason its taken so long for him to sign a new one as steve gibson refused to put that in his new contract (go on gibbo you the fuckin man)

mark crossley deserved better from us as he was quality but was shit on once schwartzer was fit. so are there any good keepers out there who could challenge him? i like the look of paddy kenny at shef utd.

have you guys heardof any stipuations in contracts that your team members have? i heard shearer has it in his contract that he has to be the highest earner at newcastle so it they sign someone on higher wages, his auto increases!

Do you know of anymore daft things that go in contracts?

Cactus Sid 03-25-2005 06:35 AM

Stan Collymore had that same stip when he was at Villa.

Same here, but not just him the defence in general. At the moment Neil at right back, Moore in the centre and Lazaridis at left back pleases me, however we need someone else to fill in the other centre-back position. Not only that, if any of these three gets injured we have limited back up so that fucking worries me.

This said, I'm liking our starting line-up for the friendly tonight against Iraq:

Mark Schwarzer
Lucas Neill, Tony Popovic, Craig Moore (c), Stan Lazaridis
Marco Bresciano, Josip Skoko, Tim Cahill
Scott Chipperfield, Brett Emerton, John Aloisi

I'm glad Farina is sticking to the 4-3-3 formation so our lads can get used to it and see how well they're used to it when we play in the Confederations Cup. In a way it's good that Viduka and Kewell are injured (Kewell's playing shithouse anyway) so it gives lads like Chipperfield and Aloisi (who is underrated in my opinion) a chance to press for starting selection come the big games. When Kewell and Viduka are fit and firing (hopefully come November) our squad, complimented by the 4-3-3, should look like this:

Schwarzer
Neil, Popovic, Moore, Lazaridis
Cahill, Bresciano, Kewell
Emerton, Viduka, Aloisi

Only problem I have with the lineup for tonight is Bresciano on the right, he does his best work in the centre or on the left but the left SHOULD be Kewell's spot (though Farina the dumb cunt will put him up front).

Btw we're actually playing a proper game in Australia, with a proper squad, and not in London. :|

Dazz 03-25-2005 09:12 PM

Duncan Ferguson had the same clause, which gave Everton problems when trying to give Rooney a higher contract.

I don't think he strictly broke it, I think he re-injured his original break from pre-season.

Dazz 03-26-2005 08:58 AM

Nah apparently it was broken, thats why our old physio left, because Mourinho wanted him rushed back. We have now got this olympic guy who is the man at repairing injuries quickly do he helped sort him out, and AC Milan have some foot speacialist there or something, and as an act of good sportsmanship their guy also treated Robben. The two of those guys combined is why he is back quicker then expected.

Doink 03-26-2005 09:02 AM

i think its more to do with compitment to the cause and that boro have the worst medical staff in the world. i dont think we have had 1 player injure himself during a game, all our injuries come in training. Who trains us ths SAS?

i feel sorry for malcolm christie, he had to tell the medical staff something stil didnt feel right, they said he was fine, then bang he breaks it again. fucked up medical team if you ask me!

do you have any players you think are hiding behind injuries ?

Dazz 03-26-2005 09:04 AM

Gallas is permanently injured, the guy is a joke, no doubt he will get injured Vs Southampton next week.

Gudjohnsen apparently has an actual permanent injury but I forget exactly what it is.

Mourinho likes to take players returns very slowly if he can, Carvalho took 2 months to return from a broken toe, but we had ample replacement and didn't let a league goal in in his abscence so we didn't need to rush him.

Rob Ban Fan 03-26-2005 09:27 AM

Vincent Pericard was out injured with a thigh strain for a year, came back and played for the reserves and did his cruciate knee ligament after about 15 minutes.

Hayden Foxe has been out with a broken foot for over a year.

Toddy injured his cruciate ligament in training the day before the season began, Redknapp rushed him back and he did it again.

Toddy's injury is fair enough, thats just unlucky but how the fuck can you be out for a year with a thigh strain or a broken foot that doesnt seem to get any better :|

Wengerland 03-26-2005 10:00 AM

Lee Morris, been here for 14 months now and in that time he's made 1 start and 3 sub apperances i think. He was said to be close to a return this week but nope, his cruciates have gone again.

Nathan Blake has been out for a few months now, he's shit when he plays mind you. Jordan Stewart dislocated his shoulder for the 3rd time in our last game too. I wish Canero was injured, not out of malice or anything, but then Levein would have a valid reason not to pick him, as he looked good last year but now he's playing in the reserves and local cup competitions with the youth team.

Wengerland 03-26-2005 10:01 AM

Tiatto is a squad player, he's played in the recent friendly in London against Norway. Kisnorbo I don't believe will feature very much in this campaign but will be blooded for the next campaign for WC 2010. On a side note as Kisnorbo's recovering from an injury, he'll be in Melbourne next week and is special guest at his old club South Melbourne's game on the Sunday.

yianni 03-26-2005 12:09 PM

Btw it was a shithouse performance tonight but Australia came from 0-1 down (fucking defence caught out trying to play the offside) to win 2-1 against Iraq, with Bresciano scoring from a free kick then Ahmad Elrich coming off the bench and slotting the ball into the bottom corner. Like I was saying earlier, defence is FUCKING WORRYING, Schwarzer made some fucking stupid errors again and is really fucking worrying me. If we play anything like that against the South Americans in South America...forget it we're going to cop 5 or 6 :nono:

On the whole injury thing, it does seem that the big clubs can get players back quicker. While they aren't back yet, Xabi and Cisse are both back in training. Alonso broke his ankle in January, and he could be back by the Juve game, so 3 months aint bad. Cisse had a double compound fracture and he's back training 5 months later, so I guess that the bigger clubs have better medical staff and better links with medical people around the world.

Also...good luck to the Irish, I reckon this'll be a cracking game.

Lets just not go proclaiming Cole as the answer to the left hand problem until he plays against some higher class opposition though. I can see the press jumping all over him when all he did in essence was to get the better of a right back who hasn't played a game for Soton this season.
