Chronicle:

I'll give a solid 7.5-8 out of 10. I know that the "found footage" thing is getting a bit tired at this point and some of the camera angles in this particular movie were a little fucking convenient, but overall... Solid Superhero flick. Much more character development than I thought there would be. Many parallels to Star Wars also, actually (Light side/Dark side. Emotions, blah blah). Acting was good, although the kid that played Andrew was trying a bit too hard to act like a raving lunatic towards the end there which made it feel a bit superficial.

Good movie though. :)

The Panic In Needle Park - 7/10
Al Pacino plays Bobby, a young heroin addict who introduces his drug-free girlfriend (Kitty Winn) to New York's "Needle Park." But in this sordid world peopled with addicts who lie, cheat and steal their way to their next fix, will Bobby feel any guilt for corrupting a pure soul?

Bully - 7/10
Bobby (Nick Stahl) takes great joy in bossing around and beating up his best friend, slovenly ex-surfer Marty (Brad Renfro). But when Marty's girlfriend (Rachel Miner) witnesses one too many of these incidents, she vows to kill Bobby, enlisting her friends -- and a hit man -- to help. From controversial director Larry Clark (Kids), this unsettling drama is based on a true crime.

Johnny Suede 6/10
Wannabe rock star Johnny Suede (Brad Pitt) learns there's more to life than a guitar and a big pompadour in this bittersweet drama. House painter Johnny hopes to become a star like his idol, Ricky Nelson. He falls hard for Darlette (Alison Moir), who has record industry connections, but she hits the high road when Johnny's career hits the skids. Crushed, Johnny then meets Yvonne (Catherine Keener), who helps him realize what's important in life.

Have to twist Biblical context to think the homosexuality they talk about in the Bible is the same as the loving realationships we see today. watched this great French film last night called Time To Leave - 8/10

Romain, a gay 31-year-old fashion photographer, finds out he is terminally ill and has only three months to live. He rejects the treatment for his metasized tumor that might offer him a slim (less than 5%) chance of survival.

Romain exhibits both a selfish and a recklessness behavior. He realizes that his good looks give him a certain amount of leeway and he tests the forbearance of the people who care for him. He chases away his lover Sasha and delights in antagonizing his sister. The only person in whom he confides about his illness is his grandmother Laura.

Battle Royale, the Director's Cut:

I was expecting it to be a bit more fucked up, since it was banned in the States for so long. As it stood, it was damned nuts. I was hoping for more exploding collar deaths, but then again, the exploding thing that's attached to you gimmick was done to death in the Condemned, truth be told.

It had some fucked moments: The intro video of the rules was completely insane. The mastermind's performance was insanely over the top. The scene that was used for the one girl's back story was incredibly dark.

It also had some incredible thematic elements. There was a definite anti-war theme. Who do you trust when everyone is trying to survive? Do you fight or do you give up? Do you play along or do you strike back?

I've heard it referred to as the movie/novel Hunger Games ripped off, and to an extent I guess we can thank Hunger Games for the boxed set finally seeing the U.S. But I seriously recommend it. 8/10.

Dead Snow

A Norwegian film based around the idea of medical students who go on Easter vacation to a cabin in the mountains. An old local warns them of a time when the Nazi's ran away from the locals at the end of WWII, with stolen valuables. The group then find a box of gold in the cabin and you can probably piece the rest of the film together from there.

From my take on it, they didn't know what kind of film they were making. The first 45 minutes actually sets up a decent horror film, albeit without establishing any engaging characters. Then in the second half, it shifts to complete slapstick comedy with the characters acting incredibly nonchalantly about the idea of fighting Nazi zombies.

You feel no sympathy or empathy for the characters so aren't willing any of them through the film, nor does the film have any real message within it at the beginning, middle or end. Reminded me a lot of Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland without the quality writing or comedy timing. Good soundtrack though.

I give it a 4.5/10.

9/10. Lauren German (Hostel 2 heroine chick) is having a Milla Jovovich-ish look in this one. :p

This is another seriously fucked up movie.. More psychological horror than just a nuclear armageddon stuff... think of it as what could've been the REAL Hunger Games. Literally. Cos people get stuck in the basement building with few food supplies and they start going insane on each other once the daughter gets kidnapped by bio suit guys that look like Fallout enemies and never heard from again. And I don't care if the ending was stupid, she did what she had to do...
SPOILER: show
There's only 1 suit and the chick can no longer survive with 2 remaining men cos you know they might as well ass-rape and begin abusing her despite they already did deteriorate their sanity towards others in the 1st half.

And we get to see a little glimpse of the apocalyptic world in not just the ending but also one scene where one of them tried to go outside and it looked like one huuuuuge endless tunnel mazes covered in radioactive plastic quarantine covers ala Resident Evil style. Also, they never get to explain of how those bald human beings being stored in lab chambers.. But one thing's for sure, the bio suit guys didn't pick them to cure their radiation sickness.. Some sick-ass shit scene even had a guy going nuts and starts dressing in a woman's evening gown and starts making love to another guy telling him to suck his dick after he did the tongue licking and kissing. There's a brief rape scene with the single mom too.

8/10. Really enjoyed this although the cons I would complain is that the shaky distorted static cam couldn't get a clear shot of one of the "creatures." To me, it looked like a fucking Congo ape yet alien type of breed.. There's even one scene where the girls stumbled onto some military base with a preggie woman giving birth to this creature and it behaved like a giant worm crawler!!! Fuck... Or more likely, I call it well...
SPOILER: show
Remember Halo Anniversary game where you had this level filled with THE FLOOD ALIENS?!?!? Yes, that's how it looks like.

Stay through the end credits for another dose of shaky cam style of what the "Creatures" looked like and the so-called military experiement stuff. There's even a little bit of human zombies much like REC or Crazies going ape shit on the cam corder heroes and some even had gas masks on!! WTF?? That was intense in the final act...

For a direct to video found footage movie, it really kicked my ass to the edge of the seat.

I also liked one scene where the guy goes into the dark woods and sees the words embedded on each tree trunk in blood writings: "WHAT IS THAT? DID YOU SEE THAT? LISTEN."

Party Monster - 6/10

this is the true story of Michael Alig and the Club Kids who hung out at the nightclub Limelight in NY

Macaulay Culkin did a pretty good job as Michael Alig and Wilmer Valderrama was alright as Superstar DJ Keoki

Seth Green was a little annoying as James St. James

Based on the book Disco Bloodbath, by James St. James, the film opens with Michael Alig (Mcaulay Culkin) as a small-town outcast who lived with his mom before moving to New York. Michael learns the New York party scene from James St. James (Green), who teaches him the "rules of fabulousness", which mostly revolve around attracting as much attention to oneself as possible.

Despite James' warning, Alig hosts a party at Limelight, a local club which is owned by Peter Gatien (Dylan McDermott), and soon becomes the hottest club in New York, with Alig at the head. Alig is named "King of the Club Kids" and goes on a cross country journey in search of more club kids. Alig and James pick up Angel Melendez (Wilson Cruz), Gitsie (Chloe Sevigny), and Brooke (Natasha Lyonne). Soon after meeting, Gitsie becomes Alig's new girlfriend. However, after Michael descends further into drug abuse, his life starts to spiral out of control, eventually culminating in his involvement in the murder of Angel. Gitsie and Michael decide to go to rehab and treat it as a "Second Honeymoon", leaving James behind. James then begins to write his "Great American Novel" published as Disco Bloodbath and later as Party Monster.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice 7/10

Admittedly it scored so high because I was expecting it to be utter shit, and it really wasn't. And because it's got Alfred Molina, who is always awesome.

Actually could have been an 8 if the main character wasn't incredibly annoying. He's also a massive bitch, so when he acts all "hard" in the climax, it comes off really bad.

There is some cool stuff in this movie. Fight and chase scenes are pretty cool, and a lot more intense than the harry potter crap.

Even though it's no match for the original Wicker Man, it still manages to be watchable. The only thing new to this pagan sun worshipper ritual is instead of using the method where the police guy gets burnt inside the Wicker Man here it's something else:

SPOILER: show
They pick a Christian born again couples in America to be nominated as The Laddie and The Queen of May Day festivals. But on that fatal day, of course the main protagonists tried to brainwash them with their Bible studies and stuff, they still manage to capture them.. The Laddie played by the redneck cowboy gets eaten alive by the locals ala Cannibal Holocaust style. There's brief gore here and there, full of nudity... While the female protagonist gets her ritual of being Queen of Mayday by giving her a dress but at the expense of her life as well. She's being transformed into a fucking mannequin statue despite her suspicions when she saw in the house the other 3 statues that were crowned Queen and when she touched them, the skin broke and it showed their SKELETON!!!! Damn.. Fucking twisted.. They look like 3 plastic dolls sitting on a wicker chair with crowns full of flowers. Can I say House of Wax anyone? Some kind of wicked prom king and queen high school schtick eh? Also, after their deaths are accomplished with those rituals, one of the locals even had a BABY when the cheating boyfriend decided to give in to the sins of the flesh of one hottie local and they even prayed to the Celtic sun goddess to give them ANOTHER COUPLE as a sacrifice so that they can bear ONE CHILD EACH MAY DAY FESTIVAL!!

Go see it. If you can get past the usual musical numbers with a mixture of gospel songs despite even the Wicker Man had its musical moments.. Hehhe. I like it. Also, there's one scene where the scottish media even mocked the Christian girl saying that before she was a gospel singer, they showed her OLD footage of country music video singing songs about beer, sex much like Miley Cyrus does!! Hahahhaa. The song's called, Trailer Trash Love.. LOL.

8/10.

Last movie I saw was Wrath of the Titans in 3D.

I give it a 7/10. I loved the story and the visual effects were just amazing. Only thing I would of wanted was more action and would of loved to see more of the gods in it

God Bless America - 8/10 Fan of Bobcat's director/writer work so far, will continue to fallow. Could also see rating going up or down on next viewing of this film, which there will be as I really enjoyed it.

Haha, Haven't seen that one. I'm guessing it's the 3-D one with Milla Jovovich directed by her husband. :p

And, rocky 4 was on TV last night. 8/10. Russian Drago ftw!!!

It wasn't bad... but there is just something about Americans playing European characters but with their American accents.... it sounds dumb.

Which is funny because Brits can play anything else and totally get away with it... French, German, whatever...
