I like Blade as well (he's way better in the comics than in the movies imho, cracks a joke from time to time and stuff) but I mostly read his solo books when they're a part of some crossover or something.
|
Apoc looks alright.
|
Blade basically kept the super hero movie genre afloat in time for the MCU to be born.
|
Tilda Swinton scored a Dr. Strange role. A big one.
|
The Ancient One eh? Interesting.
Had no idea Chiwetel Ejiofor was in it as well. |
Fucking sweet. Tilda Swinton is one of my favorite actresses. Doesn't get enough praise imo.

|
Why hasn't Dr. Mactaggert not aged from the First class movie to the closing credit scene in The Last Stamd?
|
Because they are different actresses.
|
Yes, but is First Class happened in the 60's, shouldn't Mactaggert be 50 or 60 years old in Last Stand?
|
I see what you're asking, but think about what you're saying:
What would you have Fox do? - Go back in time and recast her in Last Stand to be older? Or - Go back in time and recast her in First Class to be significantly younger? I see what you're asking, it just seems silly to ask. Also consider the First Class trilogy to be a soft reboot to begin with. |
So why isn't Banshee in the new one coming out?
|
Wasn't Banshee one of the ones being autopsied/experiemented on in DOFP?
In any event Wolverine changed the past so as of DOFP, Last Stand never happened and the other 2 movies may not have happened the same way either, if at all. Wolverine changed the past |
Yeah, Banshee is dead.

We'd get a new Deadpool timeline change or not.
|
No doubt but the timeline change makes it more reasonable, wonder if Deadpool mentions the other version in this film.
|
Oh he certainly will.
|
So apparently Punisher
SPOILER: show |
Time to bring back the female Punisher. Or minority/LGBT/diverse in some other way Punisher.
|
Blade's daughter is totes cool, tho.
|
Lesbian Arab female.
Also, pregnant. |
Yeah I wouldn't be worried about people being reported dead. It's all part of Secret Wars and I'm thinking they'll all come back. Well....maybe not all of them

The thing is that with 8 months later not everyone in the 616 universe may have come from there so there is a chance we will get a Frank or Francis Castle sooner or later.
Besides the "White Event" may have saved him. SPOILER: show |

So many iterations or every character running around on Battleworld right now (including it seems an army of cloned Summers) it is hard to know who we will get.
|
There was also an army of Wolverines (including some stupid things like Spider-Wolverine and Hulk-Wolverine) and an army of Beasts in this or last week's issues.
Once again, this event is plain ridiculous and confusing as fuck. |
|
Sooooooon.

omg, can't wait to see what happens with Squirrel Girl and Thor

Well considering how Ultimate Spider-Man came off the heels of Spectacular and AA came off of EMH and a lot of people were pissed about the cancellation of both...yeah, I'd say this is a step up.

Not sure if this belongs here or in the hasn't-been-active-in-three-month Civil War thread, but Nerdist posted the rumored "sides" in the Civil War movie. They don't source anybody directly, so take this with a grain of salt.
TEAM STEVE SPOILER: show TEAM TONY SPOILER: show With SPOILER: show SPOILER: show Again, the article just says "according to a new rumor," so who knows how accurate this is, if at all. Seems at least slightly logical, as it means we'll see SPOILER: show SPOILER: show Anyway, discuss. Or tell me to move it to the other thread. Ball's in your court, y'all. |
I don't think Spidey is choosing a side, he's in as a cameo more than anything. Everything body else seems to fit.
Also worth considering Agents of SHIELD characters. |
Only time will tell with the AoS peeps. But...I'm half suspecting that Spider-Man won't be a cameo but a major player who gets introduced to the MCU from the first scene.
|
Word is they've shot a ton of shit with stuntmen in the Spidey suit. Parker will likely only be in a bit, but it sounds like the web slinger has a bigger part than we'd originally thought.
|
From the rumors it seems like Spiderman's role is a tad bigger than a cameo so he just might switch sides like he did in the comics.

Punisher War Zone is on IFC right now. Most badass comic book movie ever.
|
In some ways it come off as a Try Hard movie, but it was fun.
Kinda lean toward Jane-Punisher. |
Quote:
|
Jane was a good Punisher but that movie sucked compared to War Zone.
|
Jane punisher was a great revenge movie, but not a great punisher movie, imo. Felt that war zone was a more accurate interpretation of the character.
|
I thought War Zone was great. It had stupid things like the character of Loony Bin Jim or whatever and the parkour guys (was this even around when parkour was popular?) but it made up for it with the brutal action scenes and overall atmosphere. I marked out when he killed this one parkour guy with a rocket launcher.

Too late for Emma Stone to star but I'd dig a TV show about Spider-Gwen. Maybe a general Gwen Stacey show. Got the cop father, the superhero bf, her own adventures could be a Nancy Drew thing.
|
Why's it too late for Emma Stone to star in this?
|
That would be a layover from the Sony Spidey-verse. And Marvel won't be on that at all.
|
- For Phase 3 of the MCU Marvel will be doing three movies a year.
- They want two-way integration between MCU Film and MCU TV, not so much TV reacting to film as often. - Casting news for Phase 3 coming soon. - The MCU will NOT reboot after Infinity War, but it will deal with a different slate of heroes afterward. At least Chris Evans has made clear he'll be Cap as long as Marvel wants him, which would probably be forever. |

If there were a place for Squirrel Girl to fit in, it would be DC, since they are wanting to take a comedy angle. It may not be a feature length movie, but an episode featuring her might be more satisfying than a short (and more likely) Marvel One-off.

I don't care, it gets my nerd boner going. And like I said, that would be the perfect place to slip in a Squirrel Girl sighting.
Also, I wonder if they'll slip in a variation (obviously) of the World Trade Center joke that was pretty funny in like 1989, but wouldn't fly as-is "in a post 9-11 world". |

There has been a lot of talk over the past few months about potential directors for Marvel's highly-anticipated Black Panther, with Ava DuVernay (Selma) and F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) mentioned as possible candidates. While we don't seem to be any closer to finding a filmmaker to take the helm, The Wrap reports that Joe Robert Cole (American Crime Story) is nearing a deal to write the screenplay. The site also reports that Marvel doesn't intend to search for a director until after the screenplay has been completed. We reported in August that F. Gary Gray was interested in directing Black Panther, shortly after Ava DuVernay backed out. It seems he won't be in contention either, though, since the filmmaker is now in talks to direct Fast & Furious 8, after being listed as one of the top four director candidates just yesterday. Since Fast & Furious 8 will take F. Gary Gray out of contention, the Black Panther director's race is now said to be "wide open." Chadwick Boseman is set to star in Black Panther, but he will first make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which kicks off the studio's Phase Three slate when it hit theaters May 6, 2016. Black Panther currently has a July 6, 2018 release date, so the studio still has plenty of time to find the right filmmaker for this superhero adventure. It remains to be seen what other characters may be included in this stand alone adventure, but there have been clues laid out from previous MCU movies. Very little is known about the Black Panther story, but the character's homeland of Wakanda has been teased before in the MCU. Captain America's practically-indestructible shield is made out of vibranium, a rare metal only found in Wakanda, and this summer's Avengers: Age of Ultron featured the debut of Ulysses Klaue, a character from the Marvel Comics who has been a longtime adversary of T'challa and his father, T'chaka. There have been rumors that T'chaka, the current ruler of Wakanda, will either die or pass along his throne to Chadwick Boseman's T'challa in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but that hasn't been confirmed. Joe Robert Cole is a product of Marvel's writer's program, which is also where Nicole Perlman developed her script for Guardians of the Galaxy. Joe Robert Cole was rumored to have worked on a draft of the studio's Inhumans' script, but he is no longer involved with that project, and if a draft was completed, it isn't expected to be used by the studio. He also wrote and directed the indie thriller Amber Lake, and is currently writing for FX's American Crime Story. Black Panther comes to theaters July 6th, 2018. |
Found it annoying that they meant CA: Civil War but kept referring to Winter Soldier. Amateur hour.
|
Ugh, Marvel.
Some comics this week are still a part of the Secret Worlds and take place on Battleworld, while some are part of the all-new all-different stuff. They are just as confusing as Secret Wars and you have no idea how the characters got to where they are in them. Why do I even bother reading this weekly? |
THERE IS A FUCKING TIME-TRAVELLING FOUR-ARMED LEONARDO DA VINCI
I SHIT YOU NOT |
Sounds awesome!
I'm very behind with my comics, actually. I love all the movies, TV shows etc, but only loosely follow the comics today (and I'm quite behind too). Been reading comics since 1993, problem is, it's just reached that point where it's repeating itself. Main characters keep dying and coming back, it gets to the point where nothing shocks me or interests me anymore. How many times can Professor X come back from the dead until you stop caring? Everyone has betrayed everyone at this point. Everyone's been heel or face. Nothing seems relevant any more. I'd pique my interest if a main character died and fucking stayed dead! |
Heh, dunno where that little rant came from. Marvel's movies are doing so incredibly well right now, it just seems weird that all their comics lately seem to be getting so much criticism. Last story I was really into was Civil War. Man, that was awesome.
Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Brand New Day etc and the others around that time were all good, but just seems like the last few years have been nothing but let-downs and confusion. |

Fear Itself is about where I'm at now, actually. Again, just heard nothing but criticism for it, though. I do enjoy reading the comics, but it's so repetitive. I want someone important to die and stay dead. "Death of Wolverine" I read not long ago from the library. Is that canon? I mean, no doubt it's set "in the future" or whatever, coz Wolverine is too important to kill off for real.
|
Quote:
But once Secret Wars ends there'll be an alternate universe Wolverine in the mainstream universe of course. It's gonna be Old Man Logan. I mean, he pretty much already transferred there. There's also a black British Punisher already (cause Frank Castle died not long ago). |
Urgh. Just sounds so confusing.
And I doubt it'll stay that way forever, anyway. |
I have fallen out big time with modern comic books.... with Marvel, I am way behind... probably also around Fear Itself time, but not read that. Just feel like... I dunno... reading stuff from a few years ago and having it all be already reversed/changed/retconned.... like what is the point.... and jumping to the current stuff seems like it would be just TOO MUCH change... like "Wait, what universe/timeline is he/she from?" and "Why is this character a different gender/race now?"
And as far as DC goes... The New 52 pretty much killed it for me.... which is such a freaking shame because I was always more of a hardcore DC guy anyways. If not for the New 52, I'd probably still keep up with it. I mean, I know there is stuff that I could still check out, like Batman stuff... but I just don't "feel it anymore"..... |
I still want to catch up with green lantern since they kept the continuity, but I have no interest in anything else in DC. New 52 killed it for me too.
Still using marvel unlimited though. |
Yeah, Green Lantern is another one I could have kept up with (and one of the only ones I did keep up with for awhile after the New 52), but again I just "don't feel it anymore".....
|
Meanwhile, Superman apparently no longer has a secret identity, after being exposed by some villain called Hodor or something.... Can't bring myself to read any Superman stuff after the reboot, and he was my fav......
