Squid Games Season 3 kinda fucking sucked. The games they played were fun (well in the sense that they're gonna be brutal of course) but they really removed all shred of doubt about what was going to happen when

SPOILER: show
the baby was born mid-games. I was hoping maybe a few players would rally to keep the preggers lady alive through the games and we'd see the baby after the games. But nope, water broke and she gave birth and was up walking again within 15 in-show minutes. Even as far as TV births go, that was comical.

And once the baby is born it removes any shred of doubt about what is going to happen. No matter how brutally violent the show is, you know they're not going to let anything happen to a baby. Babies are largely bullet proof in any TV show. Once it's born, it's gonna be protected at all costs. Especially when they represent purity in Korean culture. Sure enough, we then immediately see a mother kill her own son to protect a stranger's baby.

Then once the VIPs (cringeworthy as ever) decided the baby would be a player in the game, you knew Gi-hun was gonna sacrifice himself. The last 2-3 episodes were a foregone conclusion.

0% interested in the US reboot either

Destor 07-07-2025 07:13 PM

I didnt watch "season 2" (lets be real season 3 is just post mid season break for season 2) because there was no story left to tell the first run told everything. Anything beyond that and its just Saw the series.

Evil Vito 07-08-2025 11:25 AM

Season 1 ended making it clear Gi-hun was gonna try to find a way to stop the games so I at least had some intrigue to see how they were going to do that in a way that made any sort of sense. It was pretty hamfisted.

But yeah Saw the series is a good call, and to be fair seeing what new brutal games they added was half the reason I was willing to stick through it. Almost every side character they added was dislikable as fuck.

Evil Vito 07-08-2025 11:29 AM

Hwang claims he wasn't trying to tease an official US spinoff, he just wanted it established that the games were global.

Even still, that they were depicting people in the US playing a game nobody in the US would play is very funny. Zero interest if that becomes a spinoff.

The best US schoolyard game I can think of would be wallball. Can't think of much else that would translate into a brutally violent game that isn't just copying what was already done.

Oh and while I'm here I'll also say that while I thought The Bear season 4 was better than season 3 it still can't hold a candle to 1 and 2.

The show is an actor's dream. All of the individual performances are great. But it's just comically self indulgent. 90% of the show is extreme close ups of intense conversations to the point where it feels like parody. Jeremy Allen White seems to have nearly the same conversation with every character on the show. And I think the repetitiveness is intentional since he's trying to break the cycle but I found myself saying "yeah, we already know" more than a few times

The entire season was pure Emmy bait, especially the wedding episode. There's a long conversation between Gillian Jacobs and Sarah Paulson, two completely minor characters, a conversation that basically gets repeated later like every other moment in the show. Feel like it existed for no reason other than Christopher Storer is fucking Gillian Jacobs and wants her to be the reel clip they pick for the Emmys.

When was the last time hotdudes had any need to go down?

Hey Dude, Tiny Toons, and As told by ginger were some shows I just didn't even want to attempt to get into.

Also hated rocket power but they aired it so much I ended up watching it.

Sepholio 08-11-2025 07:24 PM

Tiny Toons was the shiznite just because of the wrestling episode alone.

Watched it.... it was ok... was falling asleep at times...

Lock Jaw 08-13-2025 11:23 PM

I feel like once a Xenomorph hits planet Earth it is kind of like "oh s***, there goes the planet" moment.... so while it is "cool" to see Earth at last in this franchise, at the same time it "stretches credulity" if it isn't just decimated and abandoned.

Seanny One Ball 08-17-2025 10:09 AM

Dexter's new season is good in a "I own it so I can do what I like with it" kind of way.
Uma Thurman must be in heavy debt playing second fiddle to Dinklage though. There's also a female cop who is ripping off Willem Dafoe in Boondock Saints wholesale. Such a strange choice.

MCH is quality as ever, good cast but bereft of anything remotely believable.

Seanny One Ball 08-17-2025 10:44 AM

I enjoyed "The Studio" too. Sarah Polley looks like an old muff diver now. Thanks Terry Gilliam!

Lock Jaw 08-17-2025 11:49 AM

I'd check out the new Dexter but I sure as heck don't want to subscribe to Paramount+.....

Also I thought the last one they made was a pretty good ending (after the not good ending of the actual show). So to bring it back a second time and go "nah, that wasn't the end either" feels like just a money grab.....

Feel like they should have left their money grab being their prequel show (which I didn't watch due to the aforementioned lack of desire to subscribe)

Seanny One Ball 08-20-2025 06:22 AM

Bringing him back from the dead was predictable stupidity, as are the subsequent plot lines in the series.
None of it makes sense, but it is still better than the supernatural bollocks from the books.

Apparently they are doing a spin off. Lithgow returning.
