Didn't realize the Japanese director (The Grudge) made this. Ghosts on a Plane by way of Altitude and Final Destination.. 7/10.

P.S. Scout Compton is fucking hot as the punk goth chick on this.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire-8/10

Liked it a lot. Felt a little long, but I watched it late, so that was likely attributing. Really enjoyed this far more than the first, mostly due to the fact that the tournament was second fiddle, and the characters were more fleshed out, as well as the political aspects of the film were dug into more. Donald Sutherland was the fucking man in this movie. I don't know he seemingly gave up as he got older in terms of what he was willing to do, but I loved his work in this film. Good stuff.

X-Men: DOFP 8.5/10
The Experiment 7.5/10

CSL 06-15-2014 11:40 AM

saw The Experiment a while back, one of the most unintentionally hilarious films I've ever seen, has become a bit of a ongoing joke between me and few friends

XL 06-15-2014 03:43 PM

It's hilarious in how absurdly quickly things escalate.

Batman Returns - 7/10

I had a great time revisiting this movie for the first time since I was a little toddler. As a kid, I remember being sad towards the end of the movie (
SPOILER: show
When The Penguin dies and his "babies" drag him into the water
). Tim Burton took a lot of liberties and I am not sure if he has ever read the comic books. The movie has a lot of shortcomings but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Raven Reaper 06-17-2014 07:37 AM

http://meetinthelobby.com/wp-content...ter-Teaser.jpg

Fucking weird-ass movie. High Tension by way of Inside (French movie). One thing confuses me:

SPOILER: show
If Melanie claims her son is kidnapped and she attends a support group for therapy, then why the fuck did she just pick him up on some car and claimed it was found then the husband declares her insane? Or what? Huh? ANd is the husband crazy too when he imagined Esther the former preggie turned lesbo killed their son and he tortures her in the bathroom after shooting her with a shotgun?

8/10.

Wake Wood - Pet Sematary meets Wicker Man anyone? 7/10.

My only complaint about this fatalities galore that'll make Mortal Kombat look like a PG cartoon, is the badly English Dubbed version of this... And the antagonist reminded me alot of Bruce Campbell's Ash!!! he looks and talks like him in dubbed version.

Other than that, I agree with the review saying, "What if the Godfather and Departed plus Bloodsport had a child, it'd be this movie."

P.S. Hammer Girl was the highlight for me in the late 2nd half! She's totally right up there with Thurman's The Bride in Kill Bill or Go Go Yubari!

9/10.

Sixx 06-18-2014 11:43 AM

Where the fuck do you find these movies, RR?

Raven Reaper 06-18-2014 08:08 PM

At shopping malls where they have local theaters, silly!

Finished The Omen Trilogy on a DVD Box set that has 4 discs but The Omen 4 wasn't included only the 2006 remake of it..

And, The Shining. 9/10 for both.

Damian Rey 06-19-2014 03:58 AM

RR's dedication to this thread is amazing. I cannot fathom having the time and energy to watch all these movies. He's a greater man than I.

Raven Reaper 06-19-2014 07:08 AM

Yep and here's another one:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...19728077_o.jpg

Glee + School of Rock + Scream/Saw-ish masked killer = This movie.

Plot twist:
SPOILER: show
Killer is her brother because originally at the start of the film, the mother was killed by the theater owner himself, MEAT LOAF who's a fucking scumbag money hungry asshole.

Best part was the singing of the kids while the killer screaming his own song inside his hideout telling them to stop in a metal rock theme that'd make Meat Loaf himself proud.

And yes, Meat Loaf was also the highlight of singing along with the kids in this movie. Sure, most reviews say it was total shit and doesn't deserve to be alongside classic musicals like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop of Horrors or any Phantom of the Opera musicals being remade to death.

But hey, the rendition singing of the killer's theme and the mayhem gore galore behind it worked like poetry in motion. And they even pulled a Carrie in the final moments of the movie... Yes, the bloody bucket!

7/10.

Heisenberg 06-19-2014 09:56 AM

Raven Reap Ya can attest to this, but over where he lives it's pretty easy and cheap to get trashed and have your way with whomever. That's his thing, he watches movies and reviews the hell out of them while probably getting dome from a fellow citizen. It's 45% cray cray

A dangerous movie for a fella like me to get consumed with. Fortunately, there were only a few heartwarming and relatable scenes and too many. It was well shot. I liked it. :)

road doggy dogg 06-24-2014 02:47 PM

Edge of Tomorrow: 9/10 really loved it, not a giant Tom Cruise fan "in general" but thought ht was great in this role

Pacific Rim: 5/10 idk just did not have a feel for this movie at all, think watching it right after EoT bored me of it. may rewatch again in future and re-evaluate...

Raven Reaper 06-25-2014 11:46 AM

Transformers: Age of Extinction 7/10. For some reason, I can live without Shia's annoying presence here.

Damian Rey 06-25-2014 01:53 PM

RoboCop-7/10

Not a bad remake. Seemed to be more Gary Oldman's movie than the guy playing Murphy. Lacked a compelling villian. Lots of underdeveloped characters. However, enjoyed the look and style of the film. Sound design was great. Theme of Robo keeping/fighting for his humanity and becoming sentient despite his programming was a nice angel. Surprised by the critical reception. Solid sci fi action thriller.

Justice League Flashpoint-8/10

Pretty good direct to DVD animated fim, dealing with an alternate universe created by the Flash, who is the main character in this one. Thomas Wayne Batman is a complete bad ass, and the different roles the characters were cast in was a fun take.

Corporate CockSnogger 06-25-2014 05:22 PM

Captain Phillips - solid film, starts really well but thought the second half was a bit "eh" and I wasn't really affected by much that went on. Thought Hanks was best at the very end when he was just shaking with shock and fear.

Veronica Decides to Die - Sarah Michelle Gellar suffers from depression so tries to take her life. Survives, but in the process causes herself to have a fatal injury which she'll die of within weeks anyway. She then begins to see the good things in life and falls in love etc etc. Okay enough commentary on depression for the first 45 minutes or so, but after she begins wanting to live it all seems a bit rushed and convenient. Rest of the cast was really bad.

I wish I had subtitles for the Spanish dialogues.

GD 06-26-2014 03:12 AM

Could tell that it was going to end with the poor guy's heart getting ripped out. Just felt so bad. It's a great movie partly because it elicited such an emotional response but I want to go through that experience again as much as I want to go through an actual breakup or loss of that magnitude.

Dammit you beat me to it!!! I was giving the same rating like that. I just finished it now! The director is definitely gonna be the next Kubrick/Lynch on this one.

And
SPOILER: show
her Alien form is a bit like I-ROBOT with a mixture of SlenderWoman!!!

This movie felt like a very serious yet watered down version of Natasha Henstridge's Species franchise. But still, I really enjoyed her fully naked scenes esp touching herself to experience what it feels to be human.

http://images.mymovies.net/images/fi...2/fid11460.jpg

As for this one, I give it 6/10.. I thought it was going to be another one of those teen angst drama movies but they threw into a World War 3 apocalypse scenario. The only plot twist you'll see here:

SPOILER: show
She falls in love with her fucking cousin and have sex!

Insidious Chapter 2: 4/10. Why? the 1st one had definitely a closure ending to it.. Very unnecessary sequel to continue with the hauntings.

mitch_h 06-29-2014 11:49 AM

Under the skin - loved it. Austere and surreal with long periods of silence, my type of movie. Glasgow looks cool too. 9/10

Raven Reaper 07-04-2014 08:03 PM

In A Dark Place - 6/10. The ending had me just go "That was it?!?!" I read some interesting IMDB reaction spoilers and I think I'm gonna go with the
SPOILER: show
The babysitter was just crazy and all the ghosts are just part of her dark disturbed mind or the children were being sexually abused by her pedophile ways and the children were haunted by the previous babysitters as demented as well ala The Shining.
theory.

And to some, it felt like a reboot of the 1961 classic, The Innocents.

P.S. WHAT THE FUCK happened to Leelee Sobieski? (used to be my celeb crush in high school and pre college days) All I know is she's preggie with a 2nd child and hasn't done movies since then.. And she looks like an anorexic Jennifer Lawrence now. O__o.

Nymphomaniac Vol. 2 - 8/10. Haven't seen the first one though but interesting stuff about sexuality and religious teachings message behind this. lars has done it again.. oh, and BONER level 9000 alert! Yet some scenes are like mini-porno videos. And when that familiar music came on in one scene with the baby looking out the window, I was like, "Is this supposed to be a sequel to the Anti-Christ?" And Willem Defoe came out of nowhere, I was expecting another deja vu moment with the woman who also played as his wife in Anti-Christ. Hehe.

Snowpiercer - Full of plotholes but full of entertainment as well. Really enjoyable.

Stoker - Had a really good "atmosphere" and was really well shot, but the plot's a bit dull.

The Conjuring - Alright, but absolutely nothing that hasn't been done a million times.

Man of Steel - Shite.

Raven Reaper 07-30-2014 10:32 AM

Batman: Assault on Arkham. 10/10. kick-ass anime movie.. With bits of nudity from Killer Frost and Harley, a few curses and a middle finger, very rare for it to be adult themed despite it's a cartoon..

Some of the villains seemed new to me: King Shark, Capt. Boomerang, and Black Spider. :p

I marked out when I found out Jennifer Hale's voicing Killer Frost on this one despite she even voiced her in the Injustice game. I just imagined Femshep's renegade attitude on Mass effect too! Hah.

The Way Way Back - v good. Better than I was expecting, but I love coming of age movies. They get me every time. Preferred Steve Carell in this than anything else I've seen him in. Plus, Sam Rockwell's in it so it's always going to entertain in some way.

After watching the film, I realized that I have a thing for Jodie Foster.

Esp. the 80s music and the blue aliens..The easter egg ending on it was a little bit unnecessary. Could've used more screentime for Thanos story too.
