According to the Observer, WWE had another round of internal talks over the idea of bringing Hogan back to the WWE. Like every other time, they are worried the most over the potential media and sponsors backlash if they do so. Been rumored ever since Hogan was fired that Vince has been the biggest vocal supporter of wanting Hogan back.

Hogan supposedly was in talks recently with another promotion to make his return to wrestling but was asking way too much money to make it feasible.

I think more than enough time has gone by since the whole racial slur on tape thing. If sponsors would really pull their advertising and sponsorships if he returned to the company, they're A.) Stupid, B.) Insanely Petty, and C.) Woefully short-sighted.

Sponsors don't like to be associated with things that could cause potential serious PR trouble to them. To them, WWE firing Hogan was great since it removed a big potential headache and the last thing they want is to find out WWE was never serious about the firing and now have to worry about his return looming.

Same for those within in the WWE who don't want the negative attention that will result when Hogan is brought back with open arms. Makes their anti-racism comments a lot more hollow and less sincere.

This also ties in a way to Vince and WWE being terrible at developing new mega stars because they constantly have to rely on Hogan and other former big stars to generate mainstream interest because they currently don't have any real mega stars. Same why Cena is at the stage of his career where he will constantly be inserted into high profile stuff instead of being used to develop future mega stars for the WWE.

In a podcast with Jericho he mentioned that some people were telling him to get to 500 legit (his actual legit heaviest weight was his ecw stint at 535), and JR back around late 1999\2000 wanted him down to around 380. That's around the time he got shipped off to ovw and they were doing legit weigh ins monitoring his weight. Going up in weight no doubt had major impact on his knees.
