According to recent rumors, Vivendi, who owns Universal Music and other media-related properties could be selling their partial ownership of Activision to a new buyer.

The biggest fallout for the potential sale wouldn't be a new partial owner for Activision but instead the official debut involving the mysterious Titan project from Blizzard as a way to boost investor interest and stock value for any new potential buyer.

It would also occur a lot earlier than originally planned considering the only details regarding the project involve a vague late 2013 release date and its automatic status as a new mega series in the Activision brand.

Quote:
Seeking Alpha analyst Jeff Borack believes that Blizzard could be forced to disclose information regarding Titan to drum up excitement, and purchasers, for Activision’s stock. So far, the MMO giant has remained tight lipped about the game, only offering a tentative Q4 2013 release window.

Titan is set to play a key role in Activision’s long-term share value, according to Borack, with Blizzard pouring tens of millions of dollars into R&D every year to develop the game. Titan has the ability to quickly eclipse World of Warcraft, just by carrying the Blizzard name, making it a lucrative asset to own.
An official press release revealing the debut of Titan is expected to occur in the near future if the rumors end up being true.
