I will admit Suikoden 1 had some issues, like only being able to run with a certain person in your party, but Sukioden 2 fixed a lot of the problems from one and has one of the best villains ever in Luca Blight. The stories in 1&2 are both fucking fantastic too if you actually pay attention to the game.

I knew I didn't need to collect everybody, but it was ridiculous how they did things like make you recruit this one guy if you want to get a world map. I remember finding that guy pretty luckily too. I liked the concept but thought it was executed really poorly, a lot of the characters were useless, and the war scenes seemed unnecessary. I remember it being a lot of fetch quests too, "You need to go to this castle, but go to this dungeon first so you can get something," that was a lot of it. Also the only game I have ever had to mute because the castle music was so annoying. Just seemed so simplistic, again the story could have been good but the way it was told was really lame. I never felt like I was overthrowing anything with this piece of crap group I had assembled.
