The problem is with his character, or lack thereof, in that he doesn't have one. He's essentially playing the role of a cartoon super hero without hardly ever showing any actual character or personality to make or keep his cartoon super hero interesting.

That can be said about pretty much everyone in the company. I was just saying in the casual... wrestling thread that most of the roster is completely devoid of personality and character depth. The heels play the same generic heel role and the faces play the same generic face role. The only reason so many people hate Cena is because he's the one guy who's been consistently on top showcasing WWE creative's laziness when it comes to characters (and the lean toward being family friendly and less mature). There's a reason he has been on top despite that though. Whoever is on top is gonna get bland if the booking isn't capable. Might as well be a guy who actually has the look, charisma and mainstream appeal as a saving grace.
