There's no point trying different players unless you try to fit them into the system you intend to use for competitive games, with the players you intend to use.

Like I said about Brian Kerr: he gives other players a chance, players who are pushing for a place in the line up or who are young and need experience, but he doesn't fuck up his system. The players play in their best positions and the positions they would take in a competitive game.

It means you don't end up with 8 or 9 lads who don't know each other, playing for half an hour out of position, with nothing learned about them or their ability at international level, or about the system as a whole.

Sven just uses it as a chance to throw out caps, not realistically look at players who are going to do the business.
