Apparently Sony's been wanting to do a bunch of gaming-related movies with them also trying to get a collaboration deal done with Activision. Would have involved either Call of Duty and/or Skylanders getting a film made.

Unlike with the Nintendo stuff, the Activision films were more of ideas than actual talks with the company.

Skylanders, Rothman said, could possibly be a giant LEGO Movie-type film. Call of Duty, while Rothman said would be hard to use, would still be worth it because of the franchise’s popularity. The B list consisted of Diablo, Destiny and Castle Wolfenstein. There were “a bunch of Cs,” but Rothman didn’t outline them.

Sony also came really close to losing the Sonic film rights when they were rumored to be trying to sell off Columbia Pictures. Sega didn't want the movie studio to be sold to another video game company with rumors of Activision and Microsoft being somewhat interested.
