I also did not vote on this poll because I was pumped for WrestleMania but I am a loser who has no friends so I was torn on what to select

Conspiracy theory: When AEW’s deal with Time Warner is up, WWE make their own pitch to Warner Media for those slots. It’s headed up by Cody and the idea is to do a new WCW. Uses that IP they’ve got that is just sitting there and allows them to expand and block out even more of the sun than they already do. They can also try and get it on its own streaming services while WWE prime ties up others. It seems WWE have working relationships with Peacock, Disney+ and Netflix, but it does leave Paramount+, Amazon and even Apple out there.

So weird that WrestleMania is two nights now. It’s a weird state to be in. I was buzzed about wrestling, but instead of needing to wait another year for WrestleMania…it’s tomorrow. Like having two birthdays. Or there being a whole other half to the video game.
I’m ruminating on what this WrestleMania “means”, but it’s context might shift completely in less than 12 hours now. But there’s this weird little state between both being in the books that lets night one stand on its own. Very cool. |

Real interested to see how Bianca does from here...
Even winning the Rumble and winning the title in the "main event" of Wrestlemania (night 1), she was not really "established" as a star and would have had to be made a star whilst already champ. Instead they took the title off her and put in on a star and built up to their rematch at WM and now Bianca's win felt like a "star making moment" rather than just "a moment" like it was with her first title win. Time will tell if she can hang with Becky and Charlotte as the only two legit stars of the women's division.... |

Looking at night one in isolation: This has got to be the best WrestleMania in ages, right? One of their best. I think it might actually be #2 or #3 in terms of building my emotion throughout the show. Bit I wasn’t that pumped, but have left feeling really good about their product. But that’s just night one, lol.
In terms of overall quality? I liked WrestleMania XXX, but a lot of what made it cool didn’t matter right after it (and who knows how this one will hold up). Outside of Bryan/Triple H, Cesaro winning the Battle Royal, The Shield looking strong, the streak ending (in a pretty poor match) and the main event moment — I can’t really remember what else happened. Seriously think this might be the best Mania they’ve done since…21? Am I sleeping on anything in there? And who knows how night one could help or hurt that position. |

It’ll be interesting to see how the crowd holds up tomorrow. Will they be buzzed and bringing it or burnt out and easy to disappoint?

Really seems like they’re trying to make some of these people interesting. I want to see what happens next with so many of the participants in this show. Way more than I normally would be after a WrestleMania. They’re in “star-making mode.”

They announced New Day vs. Sheamus/Ridge was moved to night 2. So either one match is going to be very short or they've realized they need to cut down on some of the length of the video packages. Like why was there a five minute Lashley video package on a night he wasn't even wrestling?
They won't have to do stuff like introducing Gable Steveson or the HOF class either. The HOF thing usually takes all of 2-3 minutes but Undertaker stood out there alone for 5 minutes, because it's the Undertaker and obviously he was always getting a sustained ovation. They should have plenty of time to fit everything in tonight without all the extra stuff but we'll see. |

I presume they put the video packages of the people on night two on night one to promote them and give them a presence on each show. You’ll almost certainly see a night one recap to do the same thing for the people on tonight’s show tomorrow. And honestly, some of those trimmings is way more important than a New Day match right now.
It wouldn’t hurt if it was on the pre-show or something. |

One of the matches that has me the most intrigued across the whole weekend is Austin Theory/Pat McAfee. I’m hoping that is something that catches people off-guard. I know how I would do the match, but we’ll see.

Night 1 had about 100 minutes of bell-to-bell action. Let’s look at night two:
Edge and AJ are probably getting 30 minutes right there. Cole and McAfee got 16 minutes for their Takeover match. It might be less here, but I’ll give them that. Brock and Roman may not actually need long, but it is what everything has been driven by. I’ll just block out 20 for that. Another 20 for the Raw tag. 10 for Omos/Lashley (and that’s being generous). 10 for Zayn/Knoxville. That seems about right. But I’d be doing New Day on the pre-show so you don’t end up bumping them again. I’d rather the Raw tag get the perfect amount of time it needs than be rushed. Same with Theory/McAfee. |

And when you think about the time that some of those matches could get tomorrow, and that you might get hit by Theory/McAfee, the Raw tag, Edge/AJ and Brock/Reigns all in a row? Fuck me.
This is the order I would do tomorrow night: * Women’s tag. Gives the women the opening spot. They can go out there and get that focus instead of being middle of the show. * Lashley/Omos. Probably not going to be pretty, but doesn’t need to be long and might have some sizzle. You don’t want this too deep. * Zayn/Knoxville, which will be fun, but it isn’t meaty enough to need to go later. * If you’re doing New Day vs. Sheamus & Holland, I’d do it here. * Theory/McAfee, which is where things go from being “fun” to really, really good (I hope). * Raw tag, which is hopefully going to be as good as I hope it is. * Edge/AJ as semi-main, they’re going to do what they’re going to do. * Brock/Roman to close the show. Fuck me, that’s a pretty good card with a really strong flow to it. |

SMH come on, I didn't name him because it was just an example based off how much you were gripping over Cody. Cody being a bigger star in WWE BAD, K.O. Wrestles in a T-Shirt BAD, neither deserves it because they work at the bigger Company. BOO WWE, BOOOOOOOOO!

And forget even night two — Raw is probably going to be pretty stacked too. It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a big debut, some new programs starting and a guy like Finn Balor might get the chance to tear it up and wrestle that chip off his shoulder (if he’s even got one).

This is definitely shaping up to be a better wrestlemania than others in recent years. Seth vs Cody and Becky vs Bianca were the only matches that were truly great. Nothing was outright bad though.

This was a case where the audience, the presentation and the guy themselves managed to all come together to make something pretty much perfect. And yeah, a lot of it is the anticipation that they’d fuck it up, or it wouldn’t be as good as it could have been. But that’s what made it perfect and made him look like a star. It’s not because he used a fucking song by Downstait or just because he came up from the stage. It’s because of where he did and why. And there’s that smell of him getting to do it his way. It’s not because he was made a star in AEW, ROH, the NWA or anywhere else. Yes, it’s a cute little way of presenting yourself, and he’s fine-tuned it outside of WWE. But it’s getting to do it there that made this, in this context, feel special. And that makes #1-aew-mark feel uncomfortable, because the guys who aren’t his team not only did something right, but something his team can’t actually do. The worst thing WWE can do to AEW is take away their crutch of “well, they might be bigger, but we’re better.” Because then they’ve got nothing. That’s why it felt like a “shots fired” moment. Because they did AEW better than AEW and that hurts deep inside when you’ve consumed so much of that Kool-Aid. |

Imagine being a guy like Danielson and seeing them do this show just after you leave. He’d probably find it funny, but a part of him has got to be like “Well, damn.”

This is the snap-back of all the “WWE Bad” stuff AEW does. They kind of walk into this by firing all those shots because when they look insignificant next to the WWE, it’s going to be noticeable. |

I try to stay off wrestling Twitter, but there are definitely people out there like #1-wwf-fan that are going to try and push narratives like AEW is the reason that Cody felt special. It’s just going to be the response when guys start leaving AEW to go back to WWE and do more relevant work.

Kevin Owens has got to be feeling pretty good about his decision to not take the truck AEW backed up to his house and stick with WWE.
Like seriously, he’s got to be feeling like $1 billion right now. He got to work Steve Austin in the main event of WrestleMania. And he got to talk and actually be the guy to challenge him. Probably can’t believe where he is. |
